About Me
My name is Anna McKinnon
I’m an Exercise Physiologist with a strong academic foundation in sport science, physiology and health promotion, complemented by specialist qualifications in Pilates, Strength & Conditioning, and Women’s Health. With years of experience in rehabilitation and preventative health, I’ve seen how movement can transform lives—impacting everything from hormonal balance and immunity to functional health and mental wellbeing. I created this space to offer a personalised, science-based approach that respects your individuality and supports sustainable, lifelong health.

About Mind Over Mat
My Philosophy
When we talk about the benefits of exercise, the conversation often feels limited — focused on weight loss, muscle gain, or improving fitness. But movement is so much more than that. Exercise impacts almost every physiological process in the body: it supports hormonal balance, boosts immune function, improves cardiovascular health, enhances bone density, aids gut health, regulates metabolism, and sharpens cognitive performance and mental wellbeing. In fact, regular movement plays a role in preventing and managing almost every chronic disease or illness—from heart disease and diabetes to osteoporosis and mental health conditions.
And because everyone is different—whether you’re navigating menopause, hormonal changes, injuries, or a unique health history—there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is to help you experience the true benefits of movement in a way that feels empowering, personalised, and sustainable.
My Commitment
I am committed to making movement a powerful tool for lifelong health. Every session is designed to empower you, educate you, and help you build sustainable habits for strength, vitality, and quality of life.
